Inge Dunham, long-time Salisbury Rotary Club member and Past Club President, shared the story of Hospital Albert Schweitzer in Haiti, founded in 1956 and supported by our club since the 1990s.  Inspired by the work of Dr. Albert Schweitzer, Dr. Larry Mellon & his wife, Gwen, left AZ to establish a hospital in Haiti to provide compassionate, lifesaving healthcare to patients among the most vulnerable in the world. The hospital has grown from 80 to 130 beds and is now renowned around the world as a highly effective health care facility most recently serving Haiti's earthquake & hurricane victims, in addition to meeting Haiti's many public health challenges. Inge first visited HAS 1986, has been several times since, and has been a tireless advocate and supporter for our club's continued financial assistance. FMI: www.hashaiti.org
